Return-It
About
Return-It is a plan to connect Adults/Seniors who play tennis in the White Bear Lake Area with the youth in the area. The program name Return-It comes from the philanthropic expression, “Learn it, Earn it, Return it”. Of course, it’s also a fun play on words for returning a shot in tennis.
The idea: Every Saturday morning between 8:00 – 9:00 am at the Central Middle School courts Adults/Seniors show up to volunteer 1 hour. June – August. Any youth (18 years old or younger) can come for 1 hour of tennis interaction FOR FREE.
Parents who bring young children must remain on the courts for the entire time. No dropping off or waiting in vehicles.
Adults/Seniors will bring some balls and a few extra tennis racquets. At the very least, a youth player will have the chance to hit some balls and be mentored by an experienced local tennis player.
The White Bear Lake Area is flush with well trained Adults/Seniors who play tennis. Many of these players are fully or semi-retired. This concept is a fantastic way to enrich the community.
Adults/Seniors, if attendance from the youth is light, then you can just hit balls with a fellow volunteer for an hour. 🙂
It’s just an idea at this point in May of 2019. The idea needs some motivated people to get it off the ground.
